We were in the market to replace our old double glazing...90's 'Leade Lights' stuff. Invited a major national supplier to quote, as we had had their windows in our house in Bristol. Almost predictably, the price started at something astronomic and worked it's way down via various supposed discounts. Final price was dependent upon our using their finance offer, at 17.9%APR. If not using the Bank of Robin Hood, the price rose by £2,900. Utter joke...we almost laughed. We then called in Starglaze. Different ballgame. Sales chap, measured, listened, made suggestions and gave us bottom-line price which was much more attractive. Long story short all was agreed and installation date given. I then gave Starglaze ops dept a minor heart attack by insisting that the installation was due to start 'tomorrow' rather than a month from now. They were very nice and didn't once suggest I was an idiot for completely misreading their letter. Installation was done, they arrived a day early and fitted 3 windows, much to our pleasant surprise. Tradesmen normally fail to turn up...never before had one turn up a day early. Bit of an issue at the factory, apparently, but windows were fine. They fitted all the rest, plus new patio doors. All went well except one upstairs window that, although it fitted, would not open correctly. Incorrect window left in place to keep house secure and correct replacement arrived following morning. The mark of a company is how it reacts to problems. Starglaze quite simply excelled. Nothing was too much trouble. They were nice guys, very polite, really got on with it and always left the place tidy. They do like their coffee, though... and it was a pleasure to keep them supplied. The installation was genuinely first class, and my total re-decoration time was less than 30 minutes for the whole house, (15 windows + patio doors), and only involved some minor touching-up of emulsion around the edges. A week or so later a window lock got stuck. One 'phone call and all sorted within 24 hours, (not a security issue). All upstairs windows are "Tilt & Turn", single pane and the extra light into the house.... without the horrible leaded lights... is incredible. As an added bonus, external noise levels inside the house have gone from low to darned near silent. These new windows are much more robust than the old ones. So, if you live in Lincolnshire or close and need new windows, just call Starglaze in Lincoln. We would recommend them to anyone, without reservation. All the staff we have spoken to are brilliant and seem to enjoy what they do. Sign of a good company.
